Producer extraordinaire, founding member of the House & Garage Orchestra and original don Shy Cookie has followed up on the success of his recent Lost Tapes Vol. 1 EP with a stellar double-drop - simultaneously releasing Vol. 2 AND a new vocal single with legendary JJ (of 'Masterblaster' and 'Ain't No Stoppin' Us' fame).
The Lost Tapes Vol. 2 EP picks up where Vol. 1 left off - amalgamating a series of tracks in different niches, some instrumental and others full vocal. A 2025 edit of 'Breathe Me In' with Shelley Nelson kicks proceedings off in style; with MC Neat and Nuala steppin' up to the vocal booth for 'Strange Times' (a standout, MJ Cole-twinged stepper - packed full of reversed string pads and funky bass). There's also a remastered version of 'We Almost Had It All' with longtime collaborator Spee; plus a "sequel" to 'Instrumental X' - the imaginatively titled 'Instrumental Y'. That one will give your sub a good workout, but just in case your speakers aren't done smoking - 'Sunshine' rounds things off nicely, combining an impressive level of musicality alongside a tonne of sub bass.
The UKG Mix of 'Hold On' with JJ sees Cookie pick up the mic and drop some bars himself over a vintage organ bass - before JJ's dulcet, smooth tones shine on a suitably summery beat which simply screams Ayia Napa! It's a feel good vibe for sure, mastered by NUKG's go-to engineer Phonetix for good measure.
Both releases are available now c/o Shy Cookie & IESH's Audio Intuition. Grab The Lost Tapes Vol. 2 here; and 'Hold On' with JJ here.
