Warlok returns with stunning 'Darkside Swing EP'

We spoke (or wrote, as the case may be) very highly of Warlok's recent EP release on Bandcamp - which we felt showcased a very high level of production on a niche aspect of UK Garage which has been somewhat absent in recent times.

Belfast's Ben Mills (pka Warlok) has returned to dazzle us once more with a subsequent self-released EP - the 'Darkside Swing EP'. Whilst it retains the hard-hitting and darker edge we noted last time around, he's veered into more musical territory with this - seamlessly integrating soulful keys and jazzy horns atop his punchy 2 Step beats and sub-rumbling basses.

We could write up each track in detail but feel you would benefit more from simply visiting his Bandcamp and previewing them in their entirety yourself. We can hear influence from the likes of Steve Gurley and Groove Chronicles and think it's safe to say you'll agree that Warlok has firmly positioned himself alongside the likes of ZeroFG with this one; but it's a suitable jazzy enough affair that it would also be very well at home on our Jazz Step playlist (indeed, we hope it ends up on streaming platforms in due course - so that we can make that happen!).
